Roasted and Chargrilled Ibérico Pork Ribs with Quince Glaze and Celeriac Purée – 9/10
All the chargrilled meat lived up to expectations. They were all outstanding and perfectly cooked. My favourite was the Roasted and Chargrilled Ibérico Pork Ribs with Quince Glaze and Celeriac Purée. The meat was coming off the bone, so tender and juicy while crispy and slightly burnt on outside. perfect!
The Chargrilled Ibérico Presa with Whipped Jamón Butter was marvelous too, however just slightly overcooked, the meat was a little tough, however it was a good piece of meat, that was juicy. The Hot Smoked Gloucester Old Spot Pork Belly with Smoked Apple and Cider is definitely worth a mention. The pork belly was soft and tender, however the skin wasn’t crispy enough, and so much fat, not enough lean meat, made me very guilty for indulging in it. I love how they chargrill and serve a whole apple with the pork belly.

Steamed and Chargrilled Octopus with Pepperonata and Mojo Verde Alioli – 9/10
This was another of my favourite and I knew it was going to be good. The octopus was perfect, with cripsy outside and juicy inside. It was slightly chewy. The only fault was it being so small, not enough to share.

Courgette Flower Stuffed with Goats’ Cheese and Drizzled with Honey x 3 – 7/10
I have been craving for stuffed courgette flower ever since I have tasted them at their sister’s restaurant, Salt Yard. It isn’t a dish for everyone as not everyone a big fan of how empowering the goat cheese can be, and with honey drizzled over it. Well, I love it, I love goat cheese and I love how you can’t order this everywhere, so exclusive.

White Chocolate Cheesecake with Macerated Strawberries, Smoked Biscuit Crumb and Basil – 8/10
I preferred the panna cotta than the cheesecake. first, it was presented beautifully while the cheesecake came in a beggar’s bowl. I loved the texture of the panna cotta, it was smooth and creamy with crunch honeycomb on top. It was delicious and definitely an eye candy.

Il Profumo di Maria – 10/10
This cocktail was recommended by the manager here. I wanted something sweet and fruity, and it fitted perfectly. It consisted of Vodka, Violets, Elderflower, Prosecco, Cherry Smoke. It came in a glass with a lid, the lid was removed to let out the flavoured smoke, so photogenic. I ordered two glasses of this as it was so delicious and refreshing. The drink itself wasn’t too strong and was easy to drink.
Ambience & Interior
Just like their sister’s restaurants, Opera Tavern and Salt yard, Ember Yard is laid back, cozy, comfortable and darkish. With dark wooden tables and chairs, tables are big, for sharing their big plates of course. there is a basement where the washroom and the bar is at. You will be able to spot Ember Yard on the start of the street, you will see their sign ín’and óut’inidcating which is the exit and entrance.
Once you enter the restaurant, you will be able to smell the chargrilled smoke filling up the restaurant. Don’t come here if you are palnning to go out after, or you will be smelling like a piece of chargrilled meat.
Service
Service was almost perfect. I was acknowledged as soon as i was coming in, and was directed to the table reserved for us. My two friends were late for almost half an hour, however during the wait, they were really friendly and kept looking over and asked if i needed anything first. I absolutely loved the manager there, he recommended me to the cocktail which i loved and he kept coming over to check in on us. When i asked for some hot water, he kindly gave me a pot of hot water with judging. So attentive.Even during our dinner, our waitress was very friendly and gave us recommendations. Great service here

I liked Ember yard very much, the food was fantastic, however it still doesn’t beat their sister restaurant, which is one of my favourite, Opera Tavern . i would still recommend this place as it is unpretentious and very cozy, serving great food. Although it is slightly expensive, but it will make sure you have a good night chilling with friends or family.
